Most Australian Shopify stores treat Cyber Monday as Black Friday’s leftovers. Same banner, same code, same email with the subject line changed to “Cyber Monday starts now”. Then they wonder why the last day of the biggest sales weekend of the year feels flat.

The data says the opposite should be true. Klaviyo’s 2025 Black Friday Cyber Monday report showed Cyber Monday sales growing 11% year on year, ahead of Black Friday at 10%. Australia Post processed more than 5.8 million parcels in a single day over the same weekend, the busiest delivery day in its history. The demand is still there on Monday. Most stores just show up to it with nothing new to say.

This guide gives you a plan for Monday 30 November 2026 that is separate from your Black Friday plan: who is actually buying that day, what offer to run without wrecking your margin, an hour-by-hour run sheet, the Klaviyo and Shopify setup, and a one-page checklist you can copy. If you want the full five-week calendar, start with our Black Friday Australia 2026 guide and come back here for the final day.

What Cyber Monday Actually Means in Australia in 2026

Cyber Monday is the last day of a four-day window. In 2026 that window runs from Friday 27 November (Black Friday) through Saturday 28 (Small Business Saturday) and Sunday 29 (the day Klaviyo calls Cyber Sunday) to Monday 30 November. Most big Australian retailers run their offers across all four days. Myer, for example, runs its offers across the Black Friday weekend and finishes on Cyber Monday, according to ShopBack’s 2026 sale guide.

Here is the size of the prize, using the most recent full-year numbers for the 2025 weekend (28 November to 1 December):

Two things follow from those numbers. First, Monday is not a cooldown day. Second, you are competing with every brand that still has stock and a marketing budget. The brands that win Monday are the ones that planned it as its own event.

Who Actually Buys on Cyber Monday (and What Each Needs From You)

Black Friday buyers arrive with a list. Cyber Monday buyers arrive with a reason they did not buy on Friday. If you can name that reason, you can write one email that speaks to it. Most stores write one email for everyone and speak to no one.

1. The weekend maybe

They opened your Friday email, looked at the product, and closed the tab. This is the largest group and the easiest to win. They do not need a deeper discount. They need a deadline and a nudge. Build this audience from people who clicked a BFCM email or viewed a product in the last four days and have not ordered.

2. The price comparer

The Victorian Government’s small business guide tells owners to target Cyber Monday shoppers who compare prices. They have three tabs open: you, Amazon Australia, and one more. Your edge is not price. It is the details that sit around price: free shipping threshold, delivery date before Christmas, returns that do not cost them, and reviews they can read in 20 seconds.

3. The Christmas gifter

Roy Morgan’s research found 17% of women and 7% of men plan to use Black Friday to buy Christmas gifts, and 66% of shoppers plan to buy both gifts and items for themselves. Gifters care about one thing more than the price: will it arrive on time. Put your last-order dates in the header, not the footer.

4. The end-of-weekend impulse buyer

They had no plan. They saw a post at 8pm, tapped through, and bought. Adobe’s US data shows Cyber Monday peaks between 8pm and 10pm at about $16 million per minute. Check your own GA4 hourly report from last year before you assume Australia looks the same, but plan for an evening spike on mobile.

Write the four buyers on a sticky note and put it above your desk. Every decision from here, the offer, the email, the ad, the homepage banner, should answer one of them.

Design a Cyber Monday Offer That Does Not Repeat Black Friday

The most expensive mistake on Monday is matching your Friday discount. Anyone who bought on Friday feels cheated if the code is the same. Anyone who waited learns that holding out works. Next year, your Friday numbers pay for it.

Klaviyo’s 2025 data shows how the market behaved: discounts were down 10% year on year, yet same-site sales were up 11%. Brands got more orders without cutting deeper. Adobe’s data shows peak Cyber Monday discounts of 31% in electronics, 28% in toys and 25% in apparel. If your category is not electronics, you have no reason to chase those numbers.

Check the maths before you pick the percentage

Here is an illustrative order with an average order value of $100. Product cost is $40, pick, pack and postage is $12, and payment fees run at 2%. At full price you keep $46 per order. Now watch what discounts do:

DiscountRevenueCostsYou keepOrders needed to match full-price profit
None$100.00$54.00$46.001.00x
10% off$90.00$53.80$36.201.27x
15% off$85.00$53.70$31.301.47x
25% off$75.00$53.50$21.502.14x

At 25% off you need more than double the orders just to earn what you earned at full price. A 10% offer needs about 27% more orders. Run this table with your own numbers before the weekend and write the minimum acceptable margin on the first page of your run sheet. Our guide to running sales without destroying margins walks through the full calculation.

Three offers that work on the last day

Pick one. Not all three. A single clear offer with a clear deadline converts better than a menu.

Shopify automatic discount configured to run only on Cyber Monday
An automatic discount scoped to a Cyber Monday Picks collection with a $90 minimum and a one-day active window (example setup).

In Shopify, create this as an automatic discount: Discounts, Create discount, Amount off products. Choose the Cyber Monday Picks collection, set the minimum purchase to $90, and set both start and end dates to Monday 30 November 2026. Automatic discounts remove the typo problem and the code-sharing problem. Customers see the saving in the cart without entering anything.

An Hour-by-Hour Run Sheet for Monday 30 November

Write this on one page and share it with whoever touches the store on the day. Times are Melbourne time (AEDT). Adjust them after you check your own Sunday and Monday traffic from last year.

A word on advertising. You will be tempted to double your Meta budget on Monday. Resist unless your numbers say otherwise. CPMs rise across the whole weekend, and the people who clicked on Friday and Sunday are already in your retargeting pool. Our guide to setting a Meta ads budget covers how to cap spend by marginal return, and that rule matters most on a day when everyone else is bidding up the auction.

Get Your Stock and Shipping Promise Right Before Anything Else

Nothing kills a Cyber Monday faster than overselling. Two weeks before the day, split your stock into three buckets: Cyber Monday Picks (what you are promoting), held back (what you refuse to discount) and reserved for December (what you keep for full-price Christmas sales). The inventory you deliberately hold back sells at full price to shoppers who missed the sales.

Then fix the delivery promise. Australia Post’s final sending dates for pre-Christmas delivery in 2025 were Monday 22 December for same-state parcels, Friday 19 December for interstate and Tuesday 23 December for Express Post. The 2026 dates were not confirmed when this article was published, so check Australia Post and your own carrier before you print anything. Whichever dates you use, put them in the product page, the cart and the Cyber Monday email.

Parcel volumes rose 6.3% in 2025 and Western Australia led state parcel growth at 10.8%, so expect delays in the week after Cyber Monday. A store that tells customers upfront “order by 15 December for Christmas delivery” gets fewer WISMO emails than a store that promises 3 to 5 days and misses it. Our Christmas cut-off guide has a template for the banner, the cart message and the support macro.

Set Up the Last-Chance Flow in Klaviyo (Step by Step)

Klaviyo reported that email and text drove 43% of total revenue on the peak days of BFCM 2025, and text revenue grew 25% on a 34% jump in send volume. The tool matters, but the setup matters more. This is the flow I would build for any store that already uses Klaviyo. The same logic works in Omnisend or Shopify Email, though the menus differ.

Klaviyo-style Cyber Monday last chance flow with a conditional split for purchasers
A last-chance flow for people who engaged with a BFCM email but have not ordered (example setup).
  1. Create the segment. Lists and Segments, Create Segment. Condition one: opened or clicked any BFCM campaign in the last 4 days. Condition two: has not placed an order since 27 November.
  2. Build the flow. Flows, Create Flow, From Scratch. Use the segment as the trigger (or add people on a schedule).
  3. Add a time delay. Wait until Monday morning in your store time zone. Pick an odd minute like 9:07 rather than the top of the hour.
  4. Add a conditional split. Question: placed an order since the flow started? Yes goes to exit. No goes to the email.
  5. Write one email. One offer, one deadline (“ends at midnight tonight”), one product block (Best Sellers or Recently Viewed from the product feed). Add a dynamic countdown timer using Klaviyo’s native block or a third-party tool.
  6. Add an SMS step. A 5 hour delay, then a one-line text to engaged SMS subscribers only. Keep to local sending hours and turn smart sending on so nobody gets three messages in an hour.
  7. Set quiet hours. 9pm to 8am. A midnight text is how you earn unsubscribes.

Also set up a warm-up send three to five days earlier to subscribers who have not opened in 90 days. It helps inbox placement before your biggest volume of the year, and it gives you a cleaner list for Monday.

Remember the Spam Act. Only message people who have consented, and include a working unsubscribe in every email and SMS. No single send is worth a compliance problem.

What the Big Australian Retailers Do (and What You Can Copy)

You are not competing with Myer on budget, but you can learn from how they run the window.

The lesson in all three is clarity over cleverness. The stores that win comparison shoppers are the ones that make the decision easy: one page, one deadline, one promise on delivery.

The Last-Day Plan: A One-Page Checklist

Copy this into a Google Doc, assign an owner to each line, and review it on Monday 23 November. This is the plan we use with members inside eCommerce Circle.

Two weeks before (by Monday 16 November)

One week before (by Monday 23 November)

On the day (Monday 30 November)

The morning after (Tuesday 1 December)

How the Pieces Compound

Each part of this plan is small. Together they change what Monday does for your business. The segment tells you who to speak to. The offer protects your margin so a good day does not turn into a bad month. The inventory split keeps December profitable. The flow catches the people who needed one more nudge. The checklist makes the whole day repeatable, so next year’s Cyber Monday starts from this year’s notes rather than from scratch.

The biggest return sits on Tuesday, not Monday. Every buyer on the weekend is a new customer you paid to acquire, and the profit from them is made in the 30 days that follow. Our guide to post-peak retention covers the sequence, and our November double peak guide shows how Click Frenzy and Singles Day feed into the same plan. If you have a smaller list or a lean team, the Singles Day guide works as a low-risk rehearsal for Monday’s run sheet.

Cyber Monday Australia: Quick Answers

When is Cyber Monday in Australia in 2026?

Monday 30 November 2026. Black Friday is Friday 27 November, and the sale window typically runs for four days.

Is Cyber Monday worth running for a small Shopify store?

Yes, if you run it as a short, clear offer on a curated set of products. No, if it means repeating a deep Black Friday discount across your whole catalogue. Check the margin table first.

Should I extend Black Friday or run a separate Cyber Monday offer?

A separate, smaller offer usually works better. It gives Monday its own reason to buy and avoids penalising Friday’s customers. A last-day bonus is the simplest way to do it.

Inside eCommerce Circle, seasonal execution is one of the core pillars we work on with every member, because a plan written in October beats a scramble in November. If you want to see exactly where your store is being capped before the peak, take the free More Orders Scorecard. It takes two minutes, costs nothing and shows you which of the 10 P’s to fix first.
